What is the primary mission of the Elena A. Miranda Foundation?

We are dedicated to helping children with life-ending conditions for which a medical intervention exists but whose families cannot afford the cost. We step in when public funds are unavailable and society has left these families behind, ensuring every child has a fighting chance.

How much of my donation goes directly to the children?

100% of all public donations go directly toward medical interventions and patient care. All administrative costs are covered through separate, dedicated donors or volunteer work, ensuring your contribution has the maximum possible impact.

Are donations to the foundation tax-deductible?

Yes. The Elena A. Miranda Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) (and 509(a)(1)) non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law under IRC Section 170.

How does the foundation decide which medical cases to support?

We focus on children facing life-threatening health issues where a proven medical solution is available but financially out of reach. We often work in partnership with institutions like Nicklaus Children’s Hospital to identify and fund the most critical cases within their Patient Assistance Fund.

How can I verify that my money is being used as promised?

We are committed to 'radical transparency.' All of our bank statements and tax filings are available upon request to any donor. We believe our supporters deserve to see exactly how their generosity is transforming lives.

Can I volunteer for the foundation even if I cannot donate money?

Absolutely. Because we strive to keep administrative costs at zero for the public, we rely heavily on volunteers to help with events, outreach, and operations. Please visit our 'Get Involved' page to see current opportunities.

Does the foundation only help children in Miami, Florida?

While our roots and major partnerships (such as the Elena A. Miranda Marketplace at Nicklaus Children's Hospital) are in South Florida, our goal is to help children in need wherever we can make a life-saving difference.

What is the 'Elena A. Miranda Marketplace'?

In recognition of a $500,000 pledge to the Patient Assistance Fund, Nicklaus Children's Hospital named a wing of its lobby the 'Elena A. Miranda Marketplace.' It serves as a symbol of our commitment to removing the financial barriers that stand between a child and their recovery.
